Hi, going to upgrade to a i7 14700k and i’m wondering if there would be a significant performance gain from upgrading from 3200mhz ddr4 to 4600mhz (max my mobo supports). I’m hoping 3200mhz is ok for now as next upgrade i’ll likely take the leap to AM5 but the budget doesn’t stretch to new cpu, mobo and ram that a ryzen cpu would require.
Thanks

What are you currently working with? Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

In short;
DDR4 motherboard, DDR4-3200MHz at the best.
DDR5 motherboard, DDR5-6000MHz is the sweet spot for Intel and AMD's platforms.
^ the only thing is you need to look for a ram kit with AMD's E.X.P.O advertised on if you're going with AMD's AM5 platform to ensure maximum compatibility/stability.

the budget doesn’t stretch to new cpu, mobo and ram that a ryzen cpu would require.
Why are you upgrading? If you are, perhaps stylize your thread with info asked of in this thread;
to see if you can shoehorn a CPU, motherboard and ram combo with that budget.
