That's good. I think one thing that I recently found out is that when your card gets older or when drivers don't seem to solve issues the manufacturer may have put out a new vBIOS for your card, but you have to actually go on their forums with your Serial Number to get it.

I was having issues where my GTX 970 was randomly downclocking itself all the time and no drivers solved it, but went to MSI.com's forums and sure enough there was a vBIOS upgrade that solved the issue.

Do not use those websites that have a database of BIOS for GPU's as the vBIOS of your card is very specific and you run the risk of performance loss or bricking your card if you use one that is not right. Seeing as you have a 580 I highly doubt that you have any new...

The main one that needs updated on a fairly regular basis is Video Card Drivers.
Note: If your video card is a newer model.

Otherwise, if you are getting yesterday's best thing I wouldn't recommend updating video card drivers every time they come out, but more so when you notice performance issues, etc.

From my experience with AMD even if you don't have the newest model their drivers are usually going to cause issues when they are first released. Which is strange because nVidia release drivers at a much higher frequency.
