Do I need to upgrade my a6-4400m?

To start off, I have a hp pavilion g6 2067ca with an a6 4400m processor and a 7670m. Anyways, I've been playing a lot of games on my laptop lately, and most of them seemed laggy. I ended up checking how much the gpu and cpu could be ultilizing, and the cpu was always at 100%. I thought that could be the bottleneck since the gpu usage varies from 90%-50%.
Another issue is that sometimes my game will slow down and audio will repeat the same 1 second clip, and my gpu usage will drop down to zero and then the cpu keeps on working away at 100%. Could it be time that I just decide to upgrade my cpu? If so, what processor would be compatible with the computer?
(Oh and just to confirm your doubts, these games should be playable on my system.)
I'm really baffled by this, any help would be amazing, thanks.

Yeah, It is a notebook. But upgrading to something like a a10-4400m would, in comparison, have a tiny bit lower clockrate, and the same wattage. The only thing that would be updated is the gpu, and two more cores. Would that cause any more heat? Even if I get a good thermal paste?

The cpu itself would only cost about $60, so I think it would be worth it considering there's double the cores, and the better gpu, which would crossfire with my 7670m better. So if you're saying that it isn't worth it, i'd say it is if possible, worth the upgrade. I'm wondering though, would I be restricted to certain amd cpu's, or could I even have a intel cpu in there if the bios and socket type allowed it? Thanks for helping me out with this so far by the way
