Do I really need to invest in a commander pro in order to control my 6 ll120 fans (fan speed not rgb)? Or would I be able to control the speed of all six with my motherboard?? (Motherboard that I will be using is the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus pro wifi)
If you own a Corsair case that has the controller built into the chassis or the 3fan pack with the lighting node PRO, then no you won't need the add-on controller. You will need the Corsair Link/iCue app to manage the lights on the fans.

You can absolutely control fan speed with the motherboard. As mentioned above, you'll need a Lighting Node Pro (at least) to control the RGB on the fans and the 3-pack comes with that.
