I know that this has been asked a lot but have motherboards moved on in terms of sockets. I have a functional motherboard that is about 10 years old with dual CPU sockets and many sockets for RAM and GPUs. It does however lack HDMI and USB3.0 ports, is it worth using this old motherboard or should I just buy a new one?

Solution
It depends on what kind of performance you want to get out of your PC. If your motherboard is 10 years old than at best it's utilizing PCI-e 1.0 and DDR2, both of which could be serious bottlenecks on high preforming CPU/GPUs
