Do old Catalyst drivers need to be uninstalled after installing the new ones?

The new one will replace the old one.
But for most of us, we like to remove the old driver BEFORE installing the new one. That keeps the registry cleaner and the drive less cluttered. DDU is a good tool for removing old/installing new: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/550192/geforce-drivers/display-driver-uninstaller-ddu-v12-9-3-4-released-06-09-14-/

Thanks for the reply!

I have already spoken to another user about this, and he said that many people uninstall before, but it's not really necessary. I have never actually updated my drivers in 1 and a half years since I built my PC. I just want to make sure that I'm doing it all correctly, seeing as it's the first time I have ever done it.

Thanks for the reply!

Sorry, but I looked at the link and saw it's for Nvidia drivers - as I said in the original title and post, I am using Catalyst drivers with an AMD card, but thanks for the reply anyway.

Lol... I know it is on an Nvidia site. But DDU is for both AMD and Nvidia. If it bothers you to download it from that site, go to the DDU website directly: http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/
It makes uninstalling the old gfx driver (any gfx driver) and reinstalling the new one (any gfx driver) clean, easy, and simple.

Okay, thanks for that - I'll be sure to try it out.

Okay, but do I need to manually install the new drivers afterwards?

Yes, of course.
When you're done with DDU, it will boot to a Win with its default driver installed. Just run the Catalyst installation pgm as normal.

Okay, I will try that as soon as I can.
