Might work, mixing ram isn't guaranteed even if same specs.

Make sure you can return ram if doesn't work. If go ahead, put 8gb in first slot and 16gb in second for flex mode.

See dimm slot placement for flex mode, bottom of page. Four dimm diagram albeit same placement order for a two slot mobo.

Will it work at 24gb or it will reduce 8 gb from second stick and only work at 16 gb?

Two differing sized modules can work in asynchronous dual channel mode if the motherboard supports it. The lower capacity module will determine how much ram is available to the operating system. In your case it will be 16GB (2x8GB.) Data transfer speed might be slower or it might be at the expected speed. If it's not listed in the manual as a setting to change, the only way to know if it works is to just try it. If it works it will likely still be worth using over a single module even if it's slower than two identical modules.
