If stored correctly parts don't know what year it is.
It's when it was left in the garage or back seat of the car or sitting by the kitchen with moisture kind of stuff. But even than most of the time it still works but glitch number goes up.
But it's the parts bought and not at least tested when they arrived you never know if it was shipping or a bad part to begin with if later you put together and it's defective.
That being said I have old old parts and one motherboard with a AMD Duron at least 24 years old and not much love by me to care where it ends up over the years. Bumped into it a few days ago and going to see if at even can still game. The darn thing just won't die but cools it still has life.
Just fyi, it's called shelf life.Search capacitor "lifespan unused"
