People write inventory and POS software all the time. I have written a few in the past myself, but there are two ways to approach this and that is either use someone's program they wrote, which most likely you will have to buy or hire a programmer to do it.

There are a few ways to generate bar codes in Linux.

Also: Excel and LibreOffice can generate barcodes.

For example:

Both can run in Linux.

Easy to test and try.
