Hello, I was planning on buying an Intel i3-6100 cpu to go with an ASRock Z270 Extreme 4 motherboard when someone told me that the cpu is locked while the motherboard has an unlocked chipset. I do not plan on overclocking but this motherboard seems to have everything I need. If these two will not work together could someone please help me find a motherboard that will work with this cpu?

Solution
They will work together, but generally most people dont need the features of an unlocked chipset with a locked processor.
If you decide you need those features, then its fine.

It'll work fine, and if that is the cheapest motherboard with all the features you want, go for it. You won't be able to overclock, but if that doesn't bother you, it won't create any problems. You may be able to find the H270 version of that board for cheaper, and it should have most of the features of the Z270 version.
