Does any body really like XP so far...?

As we are different individuals, we perceive things differently. Of couse, I would love it if Tom would review the IWill XP333 but so far, I perceive that it is an amazing mobo. Performance isn't a huge factor unless you're desperate to squeeze that extra 5fps out of Quake III. A faster mobo isn't going to make your PC last any longer before becoming obsolete. Remember, these are very, very marginal differences.

As for almost everyone hating VIA that seems like a large order to fill too. Would that mean almost everybody uses other then VIA, or use it, but don't like it? I must of missed that vote.
Hehe, you know what I mean! What I meant was that most people with VIA mobos on these forums at least hate them. "VIA sucks" has nearly turned into a fact in the motherboards forum. Of course, there are also people claiming that ALi sucks too, but the recent claims don't seem chipset-related to me (unless the mobos they have are faulty). Slow graphics performance, constant rebooting and the such sound like a conflict of some sort rather than a bug in the chipset. However, Data corruption, slow hard drive performance and incompatible PCI cards are.

I wish Abit wouldn't of been tested too. I hope they do get tested. The sooner the better, before they become old news.

I wish there was a pefect PC because they can be a pain keeping them up. One day they run great, the next your fixing them or updated.

Who makes the best mobo, cpu, chip will go on for ever and keeps things alive.

Unbelievable... Fellas/Fems, I appreciate the harty debate over the VIA vs. IWill boards.. I think it stemmed from my question about a conflict I have that appears to be between the combo of XP/VIA/nVidia, and I wanted a recommendation on a board that was stable, inexpensive, didn't need raid or OC abiliity and most of all, wasn't VIA based. I've been using VIA chipsets for awhile and haven't really had any major problems out of them... however, now that XP is on board with my new nVidia card the BSOD are cycling through... so I'm looking outside VIA-land and AMD_Man popped up the IWill XP333... I've learned lots, and will prolly go with it and the raid... I like the features (raid, oc, and sound), although I wasn't even looking for them... the price is good too - $99ish on Pricewatch... In light of the situation, I'll prolly go with the XP333 board in 3-4 weeks..

Thanks ppl for holding the fire to AMD_Man's feet on this one.. and thanks AMD_Man for taking the heat... It really was an interesting run!! :)

Hehe, no problem. I also forgot to mention the XP/Via/nVidia bug here. But as I said, the XP333 isn't the fastest mobo available but at least it's free of these common VIA bugs.

I also realized that one of the links I posted was on a preview of the board.

Haha, AMD_Man is a good sport.
I'm sorry I didn't see you post, only AMD_Man. I went back and read a little, sounds like your having some problems. Good luck getting it figured out, hope the new mobo helps you.
