SATA drives are hot swapable, they are plug and play you should not need drivers for a SATA drive non raid. Are you sure the BIOS setting are correct?
I just saw an old post (2006) on another forum where someone said that about 60% of the people with this era of boards had the problem while the rest didn't. Those that didn't have the problem are wondering what's wrong with the rest of us. I have no idea why some had absolutely no problems with the SATA drivers. Is it possible that the version (RTM, SP1, or SP2) of XP had something to do with this? After all, XP is supposed to have native SATA drivers but I don't know what service pack this started with. All I know is that many people (including myself) had this problem.
Horrgakx, have you got a copy of the mobo manual? It should help if you have it in front of you.
