I have a VIEWSONIC VG1921wm 1600x900 display LCD moniter. I just started using it after it being in storage for 1 year. It worked fine the last time i used it. the moniter works fine but shows a grayish-black overlay of some sort. I uploaded this image, to show you what i mean i used a black background.

NOTE: Can still see and use windows as usual but with this display error.
Does anyone know what this is?

It was stored very poorly in a cardboard box and the screen was placed horizontally(screen facing downwards).
Do you think it can be repaired?

For your needs, IPS will more than suffice in colour accuracy and motion. There is OLED but may be too pricey. Look at LG UltraGear IPS models in your price range. 400$ or there abouts will get you a pretty decent display.
