Does built in Windows 7 backup perform differential (incremental) backups?

I have win 7 scheduled to backup every month, it's only looking at one of my drives at the moment and is backing up to an external HDD. It's a 1TB drive so should take quite a while to fill but the amount of time the backup takes makes me think its taking a fresh copy every time.

I did a full backup last month. Is it copying the whole lot again? Or is it just taking its time checking for differences? (It says, COPYING files in G:\)

(IT HAS FINISHED . BUT THE DATE OF THE SECURITY BACKUP ON MY EXTERNAL DRIVE HASN´T CHANGED.. WHY?)

Windows 7 backup is an incremental backup. It will add new or changed information to your subsequent backups. Was anything added, changed on the security backup?

Sometimes when using windows backup, the date on the folder root is just the date the first backup was created. The date inside the folder will have the current date of the last backup.

I entered the folder, and yes, it has added new info with the date of today. IS THAT POINTING THAT THE COPY HAS BEEN MADE?
ALSO, IT TOOK JUST A WHILE, NOT LIKE THE FIRST TIME.

Yes that is when the last copy has been made. Dependent of the changes, the time varies. The first backup always takes a long time, subsequent backups sometimes are very fast. To ensure that the backup completed successfully you can go to control panel, on the right side where is says "View By" select large icons. Then click on "Backup and Restore". There it will tell you when the last successful backup have been made, if it has failed, and when the next is scheduled.

Yes, i´ve seen that shows the last date (yesterday) of the backup. And that it has been much more faster than the first one.

the problem was not in the computer date , but in the HDD; now , as i told you, i saw the folder and .... WE HAVE A MATCH! haha
