does case fans make a big difference in cooling?

They can make a big difference depending on your build and components. If you have a graphics card installed or are going to do any OCing, I'd recommend putting two 120mm or 140mm fans in the front, or one in the front and one in the side, both as intake.

Yes they make quite a bit of difference. I would add two 120mm intakes to the front and a 140mm top exhaust.

Normally you want a fan in the front of your case that is drawing air (cool) into the case then exhausted out by the rear fan. You can install another fan in the front of that case pretty easily. That is a problem when you buy really cheap cases, they dont come with good airflow and wire mgmt support.

If you was to have a gaming pc with vents but no fans, a graphics card and an air cpu cooler you could experience some thermal throttling. If you was to add 2x120mm fans in the front, and in the top and also one 120mm at the back you are likely to see a difference of 5-15 degrees Celsius drop in your gpu and similar in your cpu. If you spend £50/$70 on 5 good fans, you will not regret it!!!!Please do it
