Does Display (VGA) Converter/Adapter makes a difference?

I was looking for a DVI-D to VGA adapter for my GPU and monitor and THEN i thought that should i just go with a better display adapter like Display port to VGA adapter but then i realize its still going through my VGA monitor and maybe its still going to convert it as VGA either way.
so having a better display adapter makes a difference even its still converting VGA?
Which is better DVI-D to VGA or Display Port to VGA? is it still the same?

You would need an active VGA to DP, or DVI adapter. Otherwise you wont get a signal

Since DVI and DP are digital, VGA is analog. If it was DVI-I then an adapter would work

Well either but the resolution may only be whatever VGA can go up to

But, you wont get sound. Since VGA doesnt support audio. You'll have to connect an audio cable to your soundcard.

paul thanks i didn't even know bout these stuff and i was gonna buy a dvi-d to vga converter without knowing it will never works cause its not an active adapter. thanks to you. but my point about this thread is the difference about picture quality, better sync, better refresh rates? do display port to vga vs dvi to vga makes a difference or they're going to be just plain VGA anyway? dont care about sound though cause i have it on my motherboard.
