Does Dual Link DVI-D sustain audio?

I use an HDMI for my monitor but now I just bought a new asus VG248QE monitor with 144hz. To have 144hz you must connect the Dual Link DVI cable from the PC to the monitor. The thing is that I have my speakers connected directly to my monitor through the built in audio-out to be able to play xbox as well and for some reason I cannot hear through them no longer. Is there a way to get audio while I still play at 144hz?

DVI has been doing audio (if you have a DVI-HDMI adapter) since the GTX 200s series and AMD 3000 series.

nope. HDMI does not support 144 hz. only way you'll get the 144 hz is with a Dual link DVI cable plugged into that monitor.

so... there is no way to get audio to from the PC to that monitor and out to the speakers.......

I would suggest rigging up (through splitters and etc) from the speakers to the PC. It'll depend on your set-up though...

No this is a non-standard implementation which misuses the DVI pins. The audio gets integrated into the HDMI cable only when using special GPU compatible DVI to HDMI converters.

DVI does not support audio.
