Hello people of the master race,

I have an MSI GE62 Laptop with the GTX 970m, and I was wondering if my dGPU can output to my Mini DP v1.2.

I have plans to buy a 144hz monitor with a DisplayPort to use for gaming.

And yes, my dGPU is capable of more than 144 FPS in case anyone wondered. :D

Its just that I am not sure whether the iGPU or dGPU is connected to the Mini DP.

I tried to check by using Nvidia Control Panel, but this is what it shows (see link for screen shot)

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks for your time. I found the answer by contacting MSI support. Here's what MSI support said:

"Basically, all the port are connected to iGPU due to NVIDIA Optimus technology. You can see all other port connect to iGPU once you plug in the cable to other port in NVIDIA Set PhysX Configuration page.
You can check the NVIDIA Optimus whitepaper page15. http://www.nvidia.com/object/optimus_technology.html Basically, NVIDIA Optimus software will decide when to use NVIDIA GPU or Intel GPU. After NVIDIA GPU calculation or Intel GPU calculation, the result will be transmit to Intel GPU controller and let Intel GPU to display the result to the monitor. That's why you see NVIDIA control panel has the laptop connected to the Intel graphics...

Hope this helps anyone with the same question :)
