Does removing dead GPU from PC void warranty

I bought a custom computer from a IT retailer at the beginning of the year. Yesterday my pc shut down. I removed the GPU as it smelt burnt, and the PC worked fine again. I just ran it on integrated graphics from either the processors (i7 6700) or the motherboard (ASUS Z170-AR).

I received the warranty information for all my components when I purchased the system, so am I able to assume that the components are individually warranted? If that is not the case, if the pc system is warranted as a whole, will I have voided the warranty having removed the GPU, even if it has proven to be defective?

I'd say you've done exactly the right thing mate .
Whats the warranty on this exactly ??
Most systems come with a full rtb warranty from the builder but generally if thats been built to a custom spec they'll replace Singular parts if it makes sense to.

Depends if you're going to go through the retailer or straight with the manufacturers warranty.

I was planning the go through the retailer, I would like to think it would make the whole process easier. The warranty info given to me stated that the GPU itself had a 3 year limited warranty, which included repairs or replacement if necessary. I would contact the retailer but they are currently closed.

I'd certainly try the retailer first myself.
I don't think you can be reprimanded in any way on the warranty for removing a part that could essentially have damaged other components if left fitted.

The issue is they will likely want the whole system to inspect.

Gpu's don't normally fail ti the extent you'll smell burnt components.

There could be an underlying problem with a short or the PSU may also be damaged or faulty.

What are the actual system specs??

Gigabyte/Nvidia Windforce GTX 980ti 6GB
Intel i7 6700 CPU
ASUS Z170-AR motherboard
Corsair RM750 (750W) psu
also have 8gb RAM, a 120 GB SSD, and 2TB hard disk and an optical drive

Certainly nothing standing out mate on the quality front - honestly I was waiting for the inevitable $30 generic PSU but that's not happened ;-)

Is this a physical retailer ?? Theres a good chance they'll want the whole system not just the gpu if there's still a considerable warranty timescale on the pc.
Pain in the ass generally if the whole lot has to be rma'd by courier.
