I don't have the parts, they're sitting in my pcpartpicker right now, but i wanted to ask first before buying the parts.

I'm wondering if the Noctua NH-D15 cpu cooler's outside fan has the clearance over the left side of the Z590 AORUS ELITE AX motherboard.

I saw a similar post regarding the Noctua cpu cooler, but it was towards the RAM, and they had just moved the fan upwards, still attached. I'm thinking that's what I'll need to do with this motherboard as well.

Solution
That makes sense. I think just raising the fans will solve my problem just fine.

As far as the case side panel, I believe I'll have the space for it. This is the case I'm planning : https://pcpartpicker.com/product/d8...-atx-mid-tower-case-lancool-ii-mesh-rgb-black

D15 165mm tall, Lian Li specifies cpu clearance (think they mean cpu cooler?) at 176mm. If it's cooler dimensions, that would mean 9mm to play with raising the fan. https://lian-li.com/product/lancool-ii-mesh-rgb/?cn-reloaded=1

The case is 229mm wide, once motherboard is in i can't see it taking 5 centimeters. Case is compatible with the cooler anyhow, i'll think youll have room to move the fan.
Yeah most likely will need to raise the fan like below;

Though your mobo's io shroud doesn't seem as thick so may not need to raise as high. Check case side panel clearance though determining how much space you have to play with.

Alternatively, could have the fan on the other side for pushing air instead of pull, above the ram sticks if there's a difference in clearance.

Also, for the fan direction, I always thought that you wanted to pull from the front and push out through the back.

Yes. Pull from front, exhaust out back. But there's nothing saying it has to be (back-tower-fan-tower-fan-front) when it can just as easily be (back-fan-tower-fan-tower-front). You have 3 options for fan Placement, which is totally different to fan Orientation.

This makes me feel relieved! Thank you so much for the clear answer with all the numbers. I appreciate your time and effort :)
