Does the P6T Deluxe V2 have powered eSata?

Can't seem to find a definitive answer to this by Googling and all their website says is:

The external SATA port located at the back I/O provides smart setup and hot-plug functions. Easily backup photos, videos and other entertainment contents on external devices.

It does not say it's 'powered'. Also, the front panel I/O on my HAF 932 case has an eSata connector too but again not sure if it's powered or not when connected to the P6T Deluxe V2? I'm looking to buy an external 2.5" portable HDD with 500GB or more and 7,200 rpm if possible with USB 2.0 and eSata connectors, Verbatim recently announced a 500GB USB/eSata drive that comes with a powered eSata cable and can also use the USB port for power if the eSata port is not powered, except I don't know if the P6T Deluxe V2 has powered eSata ports

So, does anyone know?

Your SATA HD requires a power connector and a SATA connector......your external SATA is no different.

So you are saying the eSata port on the P6T Deluxe V2 is 'definitley' not powered and are 100% sure on this?

There are powered eSata ports on some mobos that obviously do not require a separate power supply so that's why I wonder why ASUS states what I quoted above as they mention NOTHING about needing a separate power supply on their eSata port.

Thought I'd post back and say the rear eSata port on the P6T Deluxe V2 is NOT powered, neither is the front panel eSata on my case as it's just an eSata to Sata cable that plugs onto the internal Sata ports on the mobo! So you need to use an external power supply or as some portable USB/eSata drives use, a USB cable that plugs into the power socket on the drive which powers it from the USB port! Only newer laptops have the combined USB/eSata port needing only a special powered eSata cable to connect.

Also the rear eSata port on this board uses the Marvel 88SE6111 chip to provide the onboard IDE controller and the rear eSata controller, however it appears it's not AHCI ready as my portable eSata drive is only recognised as a 'SCSI' device and subsequently will not allow me to 'hot plug' as choosing 'Quick removal' in Device Manager pops up a message saying the device does not support that function, there is no option to select AHCI in the BIOS for the Marvell chip like there is for the onboard Intel ICH10R Sata controller!! Plugging the drive into the front panel and it's now recognised as 'ATA' in Device Manager and 'hot pluggable' as it connects to the ICH10R Sata controller which is AHCI ready and which my BIOS is set to, so I can plug/unplug all day from the front panel eSata but not the rear eSata 🙁 Also, it seems the drive has to be plugged in and powered up BEFORE booting the system if using the rear eSata otherwise the drive will not be recognised!!

So what's the point of the rear eSata port on this board if you have to have the drive powered up before booting and then can only remove it via the 'safely remove hardware' option only to find you can't re-connect it again and use it until you reboot the system with it connected and powered on again?? Crazy!
