Does the PC Games are about to DIE ??

Most games are first released to consoles,then personal computers...even some games are bad optimized. So my question is,does lets say after 10 years,there will be still PC games? or only for consoles?

PC games will never die. It's a lot easier for people to develop games for PC and there is a way bigger list of games to play on PC. As much as you'd like to think it will, it wont. For an example, look at the new consoles. One is even running off a modified version of Windows 8.

If anything, consoles will die out because people will be trying to make them like the Steam Box.

Hardcore console fan here, that is swapping over to PC. There are more games listed in stores for console games because those companies pay for that space, and the fact that they still make discs. With places like Steam and Origin, PC gamers no longer need discs. Most games can now be purchased via a virtual market as opposed to a Wal Mart. If you look at it, Consoles are trying to go that route now while PC has been there. PC's are actually a lot more powerful than consoles as well, plus they are upgradeable which means the PC will be more up-to-date over time than any console. Consoles can't be upgraded...at all. Compare all of the games that have been developed for the pc vs the console and you will see a HUGE difference. Also, as console generations continue, their games become irrelevant. You can't use your old xbox game on your new xbox one can you? No. However, no matter how advanced PC's get, you can still play that same old lame duck game you had back in 2000. Hell people still play Oregon Trail! You will see consoles slowly meld back into the PC realm overtime and they will just become prebuilt machines like any other desktop you can buy. Lets no mention how much cheaper PC games are compared to console games...sheesh. So basically lets put some more thought in our answers.

Junkeymonkey. What you don't know is that the in-store game purchasing is dead. PC gamers get better deals when buying their games on steam for instance that keeps all games for you. Steam also have great sales that stores don't offer. There's also origin that sells EA games online.

Hell my desktop PC doesn't even have a dvd drive!

It isn't dead.

I don't think consoles will die out. There really is one argument that I truly believe has merit: "I can just plug in (with 1st day updates) and play."

So, aside from the updates, that's very true. I've built my gaming PC over a week ago. Had to order some parts because stuff went bad, and I'm still having problems and have to view these dump files and I have no idea what's wrong. No console guy would have to go through this. If there is a problem, the person can send the console back and get another one. Not everyone is willing to do this technical stuff themselves.

If you'd listen and read "If anything, consoles will die out because people will be trying to make them like the Steam Box." where it'll be basically a console, based around PC Gaming.

Same as wolfzero here, long time console player switched to PC recently with my first build. I've played everything from the original nintendo and sega to ps3/xbox 360. I do not plan to get the ps4 or xbox one (I still have and will keep my ps3 but I use it for netflix and watching movies/dvds now).

The idea I liked about consoles was that they were relatively affordable and provided amazing graphics. I remembered the shift in graphics from n64 to ps1 to ps2 and then ps3. They were nice jumps and the ps3 at the time it came out could compete with PC's over $1,000 for much less. (Partly because sony was selling the system at a loss expecting to make up the difference in accessories.) But the jump to ps4, its only equal to a graphics cards costing $250/$300.

With my pc now, granted its a $700 dollar graphics card, with the 780 ti, it blows the ps4/xbox one out of the water and should stay relavent for a good 3 years. PC is more fun to me, I enjoy the customizability of the keyboard and the free movement of the mouse. Games are more fun too. I replayed Skyrim on the PC after playing it on the ps3. It felt way better, also liked that load times were 95% quicker about 1-2 seconds on pc compared to 10+ on ps3 at times.

If I really wanted to now I can just run a hdmi cable from my pc to my tv which is only 10 feet away, and get a wireless controller to plug to the pc and theres my next gen console. Also I'm not sure what steam machines are trying to achieve, I can just plug my pc to my tv and run steam.

Also stores not carrying PC games is no longer a valid arguement. You can say the came about CD's. I remember when walking into best buy there would be 2-3 aisles of pc games and like 8-10 aisles of CD's. Now PC games are gone and CD's are down to maybe 1 or 2 aisles tops. Last physical disc game I got was age of empires 3 about 4-5 years ago. Last 30-40 games I purchased were all digital.

Also I remember reading an article a few months back, that spoke with one of the executives at sony, who stated consoles only had about 2-3 cycles left at most before they were gone, that included the ps4.

PCs being 100% backwards compatible with all games ever made for PC also helps. The thing is old PC games are still some of the best ever made. And with high speed internet there's no reason to go to the store to buy PC games anymore anyways.

The most played games in the world are played on PC. Console gamers have to keep telling themselves PC Gaming is always dead when it never has been.
