My friend is seriously considering buying this and I am almost certain it is a scam.

I don't think it's necessarily a scam, but this dude has no rating and he's only got two items up for sale as far as I could tell. I only buy used equipment from established sellers with a return policy. If this thing is D.O.A., I can't imagine your friend will ever see that money again.
