I posted a question about whether scandisk corrupts Windows a few days ago
(and the Dell tech's recommendation).
The same escalation tech called back to follow up. He mentioned that Dell
is aware of customers' service issues and the call back was evidence of the
company's efforts to improve. I told him this move is in the right
direction and to keep it up. I have griped on occasion in here about Dell's
awful service but in all fairness, if this call indicates a new trend, then
Dell ought to have many happy customers (and more income from these
customers).
As important, the tech is adamant about his recommendation about performing
scandisk only once or twice a month. When I told him about the responses I
got in this forum, he explained that there is a known issue with Scandisk
(and Windows?). Scandisk is known to corrupt Windows and that scanning the
drive repeatedly will increase the probability of this to occur. (He says
he has first hand experience with scandisk killing a machine and erasing all
data.)
Does this make sense?
