[SOLVED] Does two 800Mhz RAM is equal to 1600Mhz

I have Intel® Core™ i5-3340M Processor in my Laptop with Single Channel 800Mhz (4GB) RAM. Currently I am thinking of 1600Mhz RAM speed.
Should i install two 800Mhz or two 1600Mhz RAMS? I also want dual channel mode.

@beers i am reading the clock by CPU-Z

SPD==> Max Bandwidth PC3-12800 (800Mhz)
and CAS Latency rate is 11.0 clocks
Yep then that's already DDR3 1600

You might be able to throw a similar 4G stick with the same frequency/timings (ideally same model #). Most people here will suggest a full 2x4G matched kit however.

From a bandwidth perspective you receive double with dual channel, but that's more of a function of having another memory channel's worth of bandwidth.

It'd be equivalent if your single stick was double clocked from a throughput perspective, but not from a latency one.

What are you using to read the clock? I actually haven't seen real PC3-6400 anywhere. If it's the CPU-Z value you're referencing then 800 is already DDR3 1600.
