i heard there was a doom 3 benchmark a few months ago and i was just wondering if we can get our hands on it to test our systems with. thanks for any info

I don't believe that there are any public releases of playable levels (the Alpha leak is so crude that it couldn't possibly be used as a benchmarking tool). I think that THG had to return their playable demo to ID after the fx5900 review, but I'm not sure. The concensus at ID is that "we'll release it when we feel it's ready". Hopefully ID will keep up with tradition and release a 2 or 3-level demo in the early spring, at least to give players an idea of what to expect from the final version.
