Dose Comcast allow website hosting.

Hello, I am wanting to host a website from a pc but I don't know if Comcast allows that or not.

When you signed up for Comcast, they gave you or email you a whole bunch of papers.
What does it say?

Or, you could look at the ToS at Comcast. http://xfinity.comcast.net/terms/

Lastly...are you really sure you want to run a webserver from home?

I think Comcast would prefer that they host the site on their servers, but I don't think there is anything which prevents you from hosting your own site on your PC. Comcast, however, may frown on the content or the additional traffic to your system which they may use as a reason to shut down your site.

Technical restrictions
"use or run dedicated, stand-alone equipment or servers from the Premises that provide network
content or any other services to anyone outside of your Premises local area network (“Premises
LAN”), also commonly referred to as public services or servers. Examples of prohibited
equipment and servers include, but are not limited to, email, web hosting, file sharing, and proxy
services and servers; "


Will they complain and notify you?
Probably only if you start to generate a significant amount of traffic.

That pretty much covers it; which I always found as a load of crap. Back in the day when I wanted to have my own personal web site, my ISP never had the functionality to do 90% of what I wanted to do. Basically, I used their site to host my home page and every link from there went to my own web service; running on my PC, with all the functionality and control I needed. The only problem I had back then was that I didn't run my system 24/7.

That's pretty standard for any residential plan. "No servers"
Spend more for a business plan, and no problem.

Hence why I gave up on it. My residential service gave me all the bandwidth I needed. Why give Comcast (or at the time, Adelphia) more money to do something I could do cheaper, better, and more securely with my own hardware? Yeah. Don't think so.
