Why an I7 and an HD7770? An I5 and a better GPU would have served you much better... But alas, people are obsessed with the moronic I7 for everyday use and gaming....

I agree, but I found a good price on slickdeals for a refurb dell (would have preferred an i5 with gtx 660ti). But I noticed that the 7770 will be perfect for maintaining 60fps in Dota 2 at max settings at 1920x1080, and it's a game I'd like to play more. The gpu will be the first thing to upgrade once I hit a wall, maybe a 760ti or wait for the geforce 800 series.

And a prebuild??? Honestly... I am abashed!

Would I still see a 10-15 FPS difference between a i3 3220 and an overclocked FX 6100 using a 7870?

Also, I know that both the FX 6200 and FX 6300 have more cache than the FX 6100 but, is it really paying more than twice the price for it? I'd like to think that the overclocked FX 6100 would perform close to the FX 6200, which was regarded as an OK budget gaming CPU.

AMD prices are just odd where I live, and for some reason cheaper than in Newegg.

If you are gonna do LOL and DOTA 2 you have to test Heroes of Newerth too (HoN), after all it has the best graphics of the 3 games...

I'm curious what memory was being used with those platforms? It looks like DOTA II is similar to SC2 in that it places a large burden on a single thread prior to rendering anything. I'll see what the post-patch bench's look like as that was an issue they seemed to be addressing.

How do the APUs perform in this game and LoL?

I remember seeing plenty of videos uploaded by people who ran them with the new Trinity APUs, but getting to see benchmarks would be nice.

I don't have an Eyefinity set-up right now but I did do some testing with monitors and you can do Eyefinity with DOTA2 just fine if the monitors are in the vertical orientation.
Also for RDC85 there is no LAN mode yet BUT there will be one eventually, it has been announced and there is actually a setting that is un-selectable right now for it in the custom game selection

Thanks for the info, glad to hear that...

this sure bring back of (good) memories of my sleepless gaming days... 😀

It would be WAY more accurate to call both dota, lol and dota 2 an "AoS" type game then to call it this "MOBA" crap noone has really ever heard of. AoS is what the modding community refers to with this type of game.

[citation][nom]rdc85[/nom]As A former DoTA player.. (original WC ver.)I'm so glad they keep the game mechanic and the system requirement low...the one problems i had is no near server in my country, and the internet connection is quite bad...I'm wonder if this game is playable on LAN or private/local server?[/citation]

You can setup lan game but it takes some admin level knowledge of steam servers you can find guide for it if you google.

New heroes are part of the revenue model, in fact, since cosmetic items for the characters are available to buy. Valve committed to a true free-to-play strategy (not pay-to-win) so none of the cash items will give any advantage in game, only cosmetic enhancements.

This is completely wrong DON! do your research... DOTA 2 is F2P where there is no charge for gameplay tied activity.
All heroes are Free since the day one. Game will only be officially launched and released after all DOTA 1 heroes are implemented and again they are all free no need to unlock them in any way either.
You can buy only visual and audible customizations i.e. character models, killstreak announcers, courier pets. There is only one boost to be bought for experience after the game but as of now account leveling system is not implemented and thus has no effect on gameplay.

I dont understand why everyone is so surprised, Dota 2 uses the advanced Source engine (The L4D2 engine which is different the HL2 Engine)

IMO 1 and 2 are reasons to play LoL. Denying is a silly game mechanic that is an artifact of the original WC3 engine. Only having access to a small number of champions encourages people to find one that they like, buy it (either via in-game currency or $$), and master them.

Btw im planning to stream Dota 2 for at least 720p can the i3- 3220 @3.3ghz stream it and my video card is gtx 650 1 gb ddr5 My target is to get at least 40-50 fps while streaming.

[citation][nom]Cellarian[/nom]Just being nit-picky, but Dota 2 offers only cosmetic items. So all of the items you can buy have no power at all.[/citation]

so you're saying you want to pay to win?

I play both DOTA 2 and LoL. Overall I find LoL to be a better game. I still play both, but the pace of DOTA 2 games is just so slow in comparison. Time wise, they usually last about the same (against skilled opponents... and LoL does a much better job of pairing up equals).
