Will the double molex work? Yes. Is it a good idea? Absolutely not.

If you PSU doesn't have the correct PCIe connectors its either 1) way too old and likely worn out, or 2) a piece of junk that will result in a house fire when pushed.

Buy a new PSU.

Never use adapters , get a PSU with the proper connections.
