So my family switched providers from Xfinity to Verizon Fios (both 1gig) my gaming room is on the second floor and the router is on the main floor underneath my room. We decided to switch because we were having issues and my connection while gaming was horrible. With Xfinity i had 400+ download speed and 300+ upload speed. Today Verizon came out and did there thing and i checked my download and it was roughly 124 ish for download speed & upload was 127. How can this be? I mean my ping is lower with verizon but my download/upload is horrible. My network Adapter is also an ASUS PCE-AC68 and ive used it with both providers. Drivers are up to date, i should use ethernet but it seems a hassle. OH and not only that but my upload and download speed on my phone is 400 download and 120 upload.

And now with a different router, correct?
Yes, Verizon brought an extender as well but its all on the same level. So currently there are 2, 1 router and 1 extender. Do you thing my wifi adapter is the issue. I have had it for a while and the latest driver update was from 2016. I updated it today as well but still horrible download/upload speeds. Someone i know mentioned getting Orbi Pods and have it plugged in on the same floor where im at. I also tried my work laptop and the speeds were iffy depending on where i stood, i got around 300 download and 200 upload right next to my gaming desktop (the one that is getting bad download/upload speeds) but further away near my door it struggled worse with 60-100 download and 120 upload. I honestly don’t know what my network adapter is set too in advanced settings “configure”.

Your problem is you are likely connecting to the extender rather than the main router. Try turning off the extender which will force a connection to the main router.

Do you have coax in your room. Depending on the verizon router model you might be able to just buy 1 moca adapter and then you have what appears to he a ethernet in your room which will be massively better for gaming than any kind of wifi.
