I wanted to update my new ASRock z77 extreme4 BIOS, so I downloaded latest version from asrock.com and I tried to install it from windows. When I opened the exe, it asked me if I'm sure, I closed all other apps and clicked YES. After few sec PC froze and restarted, and now I have no display and led debug display is showing d0 - CPU Initialization Failed. How can I repair it? It's new motherboard, I installed it yesterday. Oh God It's my new PC... What can I do? Any help will be great.
Please help me,
VixinG :/

Clearing CMOS doesn't help. I saw other topics similar to mine, and they say I can reflash the bios somehow. Can anyone support me? I feel terrible now...

Some motherboards have features such as backup BIOS chips onboard or the ability to flash a BIOS even when the current BIOS is corrupt, but it doesn't look like that board has either of those features. If that's the case, you may need a new BIOS chip.

the mb guild said to to a full clear of the cmos the ac power has to be off and the ps unplugged from the wall for a few min to let the mb drain of all power. alos good ami bios recovery and other bios recovry in google. most of them want you to rename the last bios file and put it on a cd or usb stick and boot holding some combo of keys down.

Why is that so strange?

Why a complete newbie can totally destroy own PC with a stupid program and bad flash?

I don't know, but my system was stable, I didn't overclock anything, all was stock.
I just opened a bios update from Windows... manufacturers should think of it and create a bios-recovery option on jumpers or something...

Really I need to spend additional $25 on new chip, because of a thing I wasn't supposed to know? Thats sad.

if it under 30 days return the mb. or have the vendor send you a new mb. it wss there program that killed the mb. to let you know it never safe to flash a bios in windows. to may thing running in the back ground. safest way is in dos or though the mb bios update option.
