[SOLVED] Drive speeds priority: Scratch Disk / Projects

Hello all,

Will go straight to the point:

I already have OS and programs on the fastest drive (970 Evo Plus M2 NVMe 500GB)

1.) Is it better to have the next fastest disk be the one where project files are located, or for scratch and cache?

I have a WD Blue 500GB and a WD Green 480GB SSDs (sata) plus another 970 Evo Plus 500GB M2 NVMe.

I mostly use Premiere Pro, After Effects, Cinema 4D, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.

2.) Is it overkill to have the 970 be the scratch?

3.) Is the speed difference between the WDs Blue/Green negligible (for either scratch or project file disk)?

I have 32GB Ram and mostly do small to medium projects on any of the programs I mentioned. Probably never any 5GB+ images and no multiple TB videos.

Thank you!

This is what I would do:

  1. #1 970 - OS and applications
  2. #2 970 - Project files
  3. WD Blue - Scratch/cache
  4. WD Green - all that other junk that happens to collect in a PC
