[SOLVED] Drive still showing in file explorer after unplugging.

I hooked up a hard drive to my computer to format it, did that, turned my computer off, unplugged the hard drive, and when I came back to file explorer, that drive was still there. I checked in disk manager and yes, it's there. I tried ejecting the drive, and deleting the volume in disk manager, but both say some application is using the hard drive (the not plugged in hard drive). I just want it gone. Thanks for any help.

I have 2 SSDs. The drive I unplugged is a 3rd HDD. I have physically removed it from the case after unplugging.

and you can go to e drive and open files?

you need to remove the ghost drive by deleting it from the registry key
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2]
