Drive won't read correctly

My Asus CDRW 5224A won't read a new CD I burned correctly. I've burned several avi files to a CD but playback is stilted, only playing is small sections before freezing. It sounds like the drive is spinning up and then down again soon after. Any idea what this might be?

I just tried burning it at a slower speed but it still does the same thing. Any other suggestions?
