I am having a problem loading my cdrom drivers. When my computer loads windows, it says "loading cd rom driver" and then bad command or file name right after that. I dont know if that means someone erased the drivers or what? if you have any advice, please reply.

What I mean is while the screen is black, and the reason I asked is that if this is the case, it is trying to load the DOS cd-drivers for windows and one of the files is bad. Just remove the line from Autoexec.bat if you never use your CD-ROM is DOS mode.

I get the error while windows is loading in DOS mode. I tried replacing the mscdex.exe, but that didn't do anything. The cd-rom is also not recognised when I start windows. That is my main problem

It may be an invalid entry in your Autoexec.bat and/or your config.sys... Some may disagree but unless you have to boot into dos mode and play dos based games or view your CD-rom it isn't very important to research this. That is, as long as it works in Windows and you are not needing it in dos, than why fix it, if it works fine? It would bug me too, if you want to find out for sure find out what commands are in these 2 files and work backwards from there. Good luck!
