I dropped my laptop about 5 feet today while on campus. The laptop somehow landed with all of the force hitting the usb receiver. The usb receiver was smashed through the usb port on my computer. Most of the ports except 1 other usb port on that side of the laptop isn't functioning. When I inspected the laptop after getting home the motherboard was cracked and it looks pretty rough. I'm not sure how it's all still working but here is my question. I've noticed it's slowed down a little since the drop.

I have online exams at school and depend on a laptop. Should I purchase a new laptop? How reliable do you think it will be? My wife has offered but I wanted to seek out some more advice before looking into it?

Thanks guys.

The laptop is a mid-2012 macbook pro. (I dislike macs but it's what my high school purchased me in a scholarship a couple years back)

Cracked motherboard, busted usb ports, its definately not reliable if thats what you are asking, just keep a close eye on it.

Keep it away from any potential heat and take it easy, it's really up to you whether or not to replace it but, I'd go ahead and start looking into a new PC in the meantime.

Sometimes when I boot it runs somewhat well, other times it's pretty laggy. I suppose i'll begin looking for another then. Suggestions for a under 1k laptop with dedicated graphics? No larger than a 15.6 inch screen prefer 1080p
