[SOLVED] DSL Ethernet Connection Slower than WiFi Connections

Hello all!

I live in Germany and (unfortunately) must use a DSL connection. It's horrid, but I digress.
I had an Ethernet cable plugged directly into my laptop from the router and got about 30mb down, no complaints there.. Aside from the bloody DSL!
I recently swapped my laptop out for my desktop and plugged in the same cable into the tower. The down speed is now about 5mb down... I have no idea where to even start with trouble shooting this one. Any help would be much appreciated!

maybe your desktop is downloading something else like windows updates or something else is being downloaded . try disabling your dSL's wifi and limiting its clients to only your desktop and see if the problem persists
