I am considering upgrading my 2 1080p monitors to 2 1440p monitors, yet I am not sure if a single EVGA GTX 970 card (the one ?I currently have) can handle a dual 1440p setup. I play games like CSGO, LoL, D3, and FFXIV, plus I watch a lot of streams and YT videos. Can a single GTX 970 card handle the workload I regularly do on a dual 1440p setup, or do I have to upgrade my card?

PS. 60Hz or more

Solution

The games you listed aren't that demanding, but I can't really assure you 60 fps at all times. It should handle it pretty well though (I just wouldn't expect to play the latest AAA titles on the highest settings 😛).

With dual monitors, you will be gaming only on the primary monitor.
The second adds little load.
I think you will be fine.
For a long while, I used a GTX780 with two 2560 x 1600 monitors and did well enough with civ 4 and 5 which are capped at 60fps.
You will always have the option to reduce the resolution if you need to for a very demanding game.

If you have the desk space, why not just upgrade one to 1440P or 1600P and use your 1080P monitors as side monitors.
