Dual channel arrangement

I have 2x1gb ddr ram and 2x512mb ddr ram..
Is it possible to arrange to 3gb dual channel??

Yes, that configuration would run in dual channel, although you'll have to watch out for possible RAM conflicts - sometimes different RAM just doesn't work together.

Yeap. That should do the trick. Once you've put them in place, boot up and download CPU-Z. It should tell you if it's in Dual Channel

Your motherboard manual will tell you what the slot assignments are...and when you boot up you'll see the "dual channel" message on the screen just below the processor info..
In my experience most motherboards are configured for 1 & 3 and 2 & 4 for dual channel mode...

my motherboard is GIGABYTE GA-K8NF-9

In that motherboard. for dual channel you must put in slots 1 and 3(Channel A), 2 and 4(Channel B)

Install the RAM like this
Slot 1 1 Gig
Slot 2 512 Meg
Slot 3 1 Gig
Slot 4 512 Meg

But, I have the same setup in the kids computer 2 x 1gig and 2 x 512 = 3 gig in Dual Channel.
