The memory does need to be the same. Ideally bought as a matched pair
to get the most out of dual channel. I doubt it would even enable it
if you put 2 different sticks in (same size, but different
manufacturers).

I have the rev1 GA 8KNXP, and it certainly says on the main powerup
boot screen "Memory is running dual channel", although I think it
might not say it on a soft boot, can't remember to be honest.

You could always just download SiSoft Sandra and do a memory bench
mark, dual channel almost doubles the benchmark rating.

Dunno about the 8KNXP, but I have a K8NS-939 and I'm using dual channel with
different sticks, different sizes. The first two lots are corsair 256meg
pairs and the last two are generic 512meg pairs. The motherboard manual said
that the sizes should be the same for maximum compatibility but it works
just as well. It says dual channel on boot up

Thanks, my memory is a pair of Kingston Hyper X 512mb CL2 Dual Channel
1G (Brand New),when i first put them in the right slots (as the shop
that built the computer put them in the wrong ones) and i re-started
the computer it did say it was running in Dual Channel, but i keep
getting five bleeps and a message when the mobi starts saying Back up
Bios checksum error and then the thing re-rights the BIOS and starts
OK, this only happens when i run Memory Intelligent Booster 2 whick
came with the Modi and my CPU is a AMD FX55. when i turn this off the
M.I.B.2 then i do not get the five beeps and it loads OK but still no
Dual Cannel message so i am now sending the Board back and another
one is here tomorow as i think there is a fault with the board,Or can
it be the RAM ??? :?:

It shows right after a memory check, I think, and a soft boot doesn't do
one. I have the same board.

Hi all, the shop has just finnished putting the new board in and its
ready to pick up but when i phoned them and asked if it showed up an
the boot screen they said no ,been to Gigabytes wed site Q&A page
and it says that it should say single 128 bit which means it is
running in dual channel ,the bench marks in SiSoftware shows 128 in
bandwith after runing a test and on my laptop and other computer it
shows 64 in bandwith and they have no dual channel so i's think that
it is in dual but not showing on boot
