hey there if i get 2x512 dual channel and have 256 kingston stick in now what effect will the dual channel have on the 256 stick should i just take it out or is it going to be ok

AMD Athlon XP2700+2.2GHz
RADEON 9200SE
Realtek AC'97 Audio 6ch.
256mg ddr400 kingston ram
Gigabyt GA-7VT600 MB
Microsoft Windows XPpro
WD 60gigHD Hitachi 52xcd/dvd

The "extra" 256MB left over from the first 2 sticks isn't used in DC but is picked-up and used by the memory controller. It's unbalanced and not efficient. Can't say what the hit to performance is as I've never tried an ackward/unbalanced combo

That pretty much says what I have to say. Can you run SisSoft Sandra to do a benchmark and report back?

Oh, here is somebody who actually tries this:<A HREF="http://www.alegsa.com.ar/Visitas/index23/A7n8x-e%20deluxe%20-%20dual%20channel%20with%20three%20dimms.php" target="_new">http://www.alegsa.com.ar/Visitas/index23/A7n8x-e%20deluxe%20-%20dual%20channel%20with%20three%20dimms.php</A>
