Dual CPU motherboard with support for NVMe

ok I see and it makes sense. But then can you please have a look to this X10DRD-iNT motherboard provided by supermicro. It mentions 2x NVMe ports but it is not clear whether the booting from those is supported. Indeed, the chip is the C612 which should not support NVMe as far as I know. If that mobo does not support booting why calling those ports NVMe? If the board does support, what is then that make it special if not the chip?

Still another hint from a dual mobo from Asus, the Z10PE-D16 WS. It has a M.2 slot and on the website it says "...It is the perfect choice for an operating system drive, making your whole PC work that much faster". So if it is for OS, then it should be bootable...
I cannot really find a definitive reply.

ok but I didn't ask specifically for chip x99, but for any. So the reply to my question whether there are DP mobo with support for M.2 should yes I guess

If its an AMI bios you can patch the bios to boot from an NVMe drive. Link provided but if it's chopped do a search for patch ami bios to boot from nvme. I patched my Asrosk b75 pro bios but had to dump the boot off network option to make room for the code. Simple as cut and paste.
