In tom'shardwareguides you never see a test with a dual cpu with an realtimestrategiegame for example empire earth (if you press f11 twice during that game you see the frames per second), ive got an xp2400 with 512mb2100cl2 and an gef4 4200 and my frames are low , around 11 but there is a lot going an in my savegame , ive already played for hours it starts with 75 frames per second but now there are lots of armies on the map.
You can test if an aplication is multithreaded by doing this : start your app/software you want to know something about for example adobe acrobat after that go to start/run/perfmon/press 3 times delete after that press the add button(ctrl+i)/ change "processor""to ""proces""and select ""in this list selected items""(left column)
there you select ""nuber of threads"" after that select the app you want to know about in the right column
, press submit and you see how many threads it uses for example adobe acrobat works better with 2 cpu's , it has 2 threads , but empire earth has 21 so is it multithreaded or not?(i work with the dutch xp version so i hope i translated it well)

It is multithreaded, but that doesn't mean it is optimized for dual processor use. If you do an analysis of the processor usage by thread you will find that only one of those 21 threads is actually active with most of the other threads doing nothing. A program optimized for SMP would use two threads in parallell on both processors to acheive maxiumum performance.

thx for clearing that up , really glad i found the reply in my e-mail , and i see you've got 3 dualprocessor pc's so you know what you are talking about
