hi i m going to buy or dual PCI-E from Assus 6600GT 128DDR3 or 1 PCI-E ASSUS X800XT 256 ddr , the $$ is not a problem but performance in games and in graphics design programs is what im looking for knowing that dual 6800gt is not an option . so what shall i take ? 2 6600gt or 1 x800xt ?

Take either 1 GF6800GT or 1 X800XT IMO.

That's my op-onion, and you should look at a few benchmarks either here or at [H] to support the idea that the shortcomings of dual GF6600GT SLI are ther and can be quite noticeable. It also depends on your settings, and games. Support for SLI is also a little splotchy at times.

Speaking of [H] when I was looking at some information for a few PMs today I noticed the following review/article had just been posted. Perhaps perusing it will help, also check out their SLI performance review which compares the results of 2 GF6600GTs to 1 GF6800GT & GF6800GT-SLI and 1 X800XTPE and PRO.

BTW, why no GF6800GT SLI in the future? Buy an SLI (or Ultra) board now, and then later add the extra card for a nice performance boost if you like.

The only other suggestion I would have in addition to that is what I'm planning on doing.

Buy an inexpensive upper-mid card (like the X800XL or GF6800GT 128mb) and then later sell it and then buy an R520 or NV50 with the money you save plus the proceeds from your sale, for a card that likely consumes less power (hello 90nm Low-Kd), and has more feature and power than anything SLI'ed.

Of course that's not part of the questions he asked, so I didn't add that, but that's my plan. So don't steal it!

I'll give ya $20 for your 6800. Now you're on your way to the next lvl gpu!
