Which specific drive is in which port?
And screencaps of the CrystalDiskMark results of each would help.
Hi, I ended up taking out the drives to re-check everything. I also wanted to see what Asus meant with their mobo terminology.
I will try to figure out how to attach my photos (3), but here is my update.
The Asus mobo picture shows my two M.2sockets. They are labeled as:
M.2_1 and M.2_2.
M.2_1 is PCIe -x2 and M.2_2 is PCIe -x4.
I had managed to put the drives I the right slots originally, but didn’t think the Crystal Mark test results were the best because after this, I looked at the Asus mobo website and -INCORRECTLY- remembered the socket information, I reversed them in my head (it was 3a.m.), so I took out the drives, re-ran the test, got even worse results, decided to switch the drives back and write you. (I also took a moment to get smarter on understanding the CrystalMark test results.
I’m fairly confident I have it set up properly, but still value your input. Also, I have the second, larger drive (1TB) installed, but it is not recognized yet. Am I correct in saying that I have to format it first? Or would it be something else? Also, for overall performance, is it better to use the faster socket M.2_2 PCIe -x4 for the “Programs” drive and the slower one M.2_1 PCIe -x2 for the “Files” drive?
I imagine that if more speed for the “Files” drive was my goal, I could just buy and install a PCIe 3.0 card with an M.2 x4 socket on it..
I’ll try to send the pics with this message. Thanks again.
