Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with my dual monitor setup and I’m hoping someone here might be able to help.

Recently, both of my monitors stopped showing a signal simultaneously. This was quite sudden and unexpected as they were working fine prior to this. In an attempt to troubleshoot the issue, I tried changing the cables and power cycling, but unfortunately, neither of these steps resolved the problem.

To further investigate, I tested both monitors on a different PC and they worked perfectly fine, which led me to believe that the issue might be with my main PC. When I switched back to my main PC, my main monitor started displaying again, but the second one did not.

Interestingly, when I swapped the display port cable connected to my main monitor to the two other display port sockets on my graphics card, they showed no signal. It appears that only one port is working on my graphics card.

I’m at a loss for what could be causing this issue. Has anyone else experienced something similar or have any suggestions on what I could try next? I do have warranty on this so could go back to retailer but if i could avoid that i would be interested to know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solution
I'm writing this based on your assumptions that the port may be dead.

You could try using DDU to reinstall your Graphics Drivers. Here's how

If it still doesn't work, your port is indeed dead and your warranty will come in handy.
Have you updated the drivers during any of your troubleshooting?

What are the specs for the rest of your system (make/model of all installed components)?
Yup i just tried doing that before reading this. I used DDU to remove drivers and install new ones from AMD. Still no luck.

yes I have already used reinstalled drivers in the manner you outlined :)

I will get in touch with CCL about this on Monday and post back here when I can

This may sound odd, but try this.

Power down your system and physically remove your GPU. Be sure to disconnect the power cable, monitor (of course), and powered speakers if you have them. Then pop out the coin battery and press the power button to discharge any residual power in the system.

Now, put the battery back into the socket and reinsert the GPU and reconnect all of your cabling.

Power on. This may take a moment as the system re-trains itself for the hardware installed.

Once Windows restarts, check your displays.

Hey thank you for the suggestion. I will try this soon if I have to....

An update from me...I initiated the RMA process and the CCL engineers were testing the card. They noted that for whatever the reason, they are not able test using dual displays. But they did test every single DP port for a single monitor output and they found no faults. This is very odd as it completely contradicts my experience. I have also since inserted my old rtx 3070 into this same PC and I am not finding any issues.

Nonetheless, CCL have kindly offered to replace my card with a brand new one. So hopefully that will solve my problems. Will come back next week with an update if i have one.

Hi I've come back here with an update. So CCL couldn't supply the exact same graphics card but they did kindly supply an even one that they had in stocl. The ASUS TUF 7900XTX, this card is mahooooosive, blimey what a chonky card.

Anyway all DP ports work fine. Although I am having issues with my secondary monitor. I'm chalking it down to either the monitor being faulty or perhaps its the cable, i am using a VGA to HDMI cable for this.

All in all, pretty happy and thankful that the new card itself is working as intended :)

I just experienced something similar to this today. i was reaching for something behind my monitor and i had a static shock go from my finger to the mount for my monitor.. my computer restarted and only 1 display was working. after testing i narrowed it down tot he graphics card, i then went into device manager and the graphics card there said it wasn't working right and was partially disabled, i re-enabled it and it restarted my computer. after restart the 2nd display was working.
