Hello Toms Hardware, you guys have helped me out in the past, and I am hoping yall can help me again.

I went from a single monitor set up to a dual monitor setup today, 1 monitor is connected via HDMI and works fine when plugged in, the second monitor is connected via a DVI-D to HDMI adapter (DVI is at the motherboard). Both monitors work fine when plugged in individually, however when both are plugged in, I can not get windows to detect the monitor that is running through the DVI adapter. I have been at it since 10:00 pm this evening, and the things I have tried are:

win key + p extend displays
uninstall/reinstall all display drivers
over 9000 reboots
switching cables
uninstalling and reinstalling mobo chipset
extensive googling of said issue

Nothing I have tried is working so far, does anybody have any further advice, as I am about to say screw it, and go purchase a dedicated graphics card with dual hdmi out puts.

System specs:
AMD A10 7850 k
Asus A88 pro mobo
8 GB ram

I tried this, windows wont even detect my 2nd display

OK, more complicated solution. Go to your video driver settings, click display (or something like that) and try to find 'multi monitor setup'. The only reason windows wouldn't let you (software-wise) is if the driver has disabled it. Your APU supports multiple displays.

I know the maximum resolution the APU supports is 2560x1600, i am running two LG 25 inch ultrawdies, but I thought the max resolution was per port and not the entire resolution?

Unfortunately my driver settings will not detect the second monitor either :-(

Have you plugged in the power to the monitor? Sounds crazy not to, but it does happen. Just realised that you would've plugged in the power because they work individually. I think that the adapter is faulty. There is no other reason why it should do such a thing.

It is most definitely plugged in, I did just notice that the adapter I have is a DVI single link adapter, and the port it is attached to is a dual link, but if that were the problem, I assume I wouldn't be getting a picture when I unplug the HDMI monitor

So I just tried with the new adapter, and made sure I got a dual link...its still a no go, I dont know what else could be causing it

Oh seriously? Damn. OK, press the windows key and Pause Break key at the same time and then click device manager. Click display adapters and then right click the item that comes up there and select properties. Go to driver and tell me what it says.

Addtionally I have tried updating my bios, to no avail

It says no new drivers avaliable, Ive installed all of the AMD drivers including the most recent beta drivers to no avail :-(
