Hi,

I am going to purchase an additional monitor for my desktop and wanted to know whether this dual monitor setup would work.

Is it possible to have one hooked up to a HDMI splitter, so I can play the PS4 on only one monitor while the other is used for the desktop? And afterwards when I'm done, use the switch to change back to dual monitors for the desktop?

If so, would I just plug one monitor into the switch/splitter that's linked to the PS4 and desktop, and the other monitor simply plugged directly into the desktop?

Is this setup possible?

Well if the monitor supports more than one input, then it should just be like switching signals on a TV. Just use the buttons on the monitor to change signals.

That would be the best way, splitters are meant for the other way, if you want 2 screens off one PC 😉
Also even though one screen is switched to play on your PS4, your PC will still see that screen as an active screen, that means if you want to see the status on your PC at the same time make sure it is on the screen you are not switching.

Sounds like a...
Yes it is possible, Most monitors have more than one display input. So yes you can switch one screen to your PS4 while your PC is running. However a HDMI splitter will not work.

You;ll have to use the HDMI on the monitor for your PS4, and use either display port or DVI instead on that monitor from your pc.
So yes it does work, just not with a splitter.

Oh I see, thanks. So I don't need the splitter at all and both are plugged into the console and pc. How do I go about switching back and forth? The one that will be plugged into the ps4 and pc is a Dell U2412M.
