Dual Processors

Question: How much of an advantage is it to have dual processors? I'm thinking of buying a dual processor board and putting some P3 933mhz CPU's on a dual 370 board. I know you have to use Linux or WinNT/2000 for the CPU's to work- but is there a big performance increase compared to 1 processor? Anyone out there run dual processors on NT/2000?

Thanks,
Jesse

I run dual P3 550Es on a GA6-BXD under Windows 2000. It runs like a dream and its hard to get processor usage above 30% most of the time.

I'm not sure exactly how much of a boost you actually get but I'm sure its in the region of about 50-70%. Remember that the processors have to be of the same revision so you must buy them together.

I recommend that you hold out until the new year for AMD's dual processor version of their new chipset. Running dual 1.2GHz Athlons will be great! Combine that with 256Mb of cheap DDR RAM and RAID if you can get it.

Hope you hold out for AMD..
