I am in the market for a new graphics card. My budget is 300 to 350 dollars {for each card}. I had a gtx 970 gigabyte but sold it to my brother. I have a 4k tv and want a dual gpu set up that will run games at medium to high on it. I am very intrigued by amds new cards but am unsure of whether to jump on the r9 390 or wait and see what fiji holds. I will buy on now and the other later. I want to run with amd due to the 8 gigs of memory. I do not need to be on the cutting edge of gpu performance, if something better comes out, i will live.

Solution
TV's are restricted to 30fps max @4k over the hdmi just fyi. So yeah, 2 390's can do that no prob without dropping below 30fps with very high detail settings. Just make sure you have a solid 900w psu.
The R9 390s are a great choice for 4K! They are equipped with a huge 8GB for VRAM and that will keep you set for 4K.

They tend to get a bit hot, but you got to sacrifice something for getting something great such as enough juice for 4K. In fact a friend of mine recently CrossFired two 290x with 8GB RAM and he is enjoying doing stuff with 4K including rendering videos in 4K much faster than what he used to do.

The dual 390's will set you for 4k no problem. The 8gb is perfect whilst crossfire scaling is great so there's enough power to crank high to ultra settings at 4k(you don't need AA at that resolution).

I have a solid 850 watt psu. Crap. I will fix that.

Hmm. i remember amd saying if you used two HDMI connectors that you could get a refresh rate of 60Hz out of their gpu's. Like two gpu's each with an HDMI cord. Is that possible?

Actually i just researched and found that HDMI 2.0 will support 4k at 60hz. will this work? the reviews say it does.
